Short-Term Disability Insurance (STD)
This type of coverage provides a percentage of income replacement for up to 26 weeks for non working related accidents and sickness.  Following an elimination period, employees receive a portion of their salary up to a stated maximum until their return to work or until they qualify for Long Term coverage.

Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTD)
For disabilities and sickness lasting longer than the prescribed STD coverage, LTD will continue income replacement.  Depending upon the nature of the disability and its relation to the employees occupation, coverage can last until age 65

Coordination of STD & LTD
All disability programs should be designed to coordinate the coverage of both the short and long term insurance.  We will review all current policies to insure this level of integration is achieved.

Social Security Online Disability Benefits

Social Security pays benefits to people who cannot work because they have a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death. Federal law requires this very strict definition of disability. While some programs give money to people with partial disability or short-term disability, Social Security does not.

This site provides quick and easy access to comprehensive information about disability programs, services, laws and benefits.
It pays to protect your employees' income and your business's profits from the financial setbacks of a disability. Nearly half of the one million Americans who filed for bankruptcy protection in 2000 did so after being sidelined by an unexpected illness or injury.*
